Consultation has concluded.

Jonas Street Plaza was in place for a trial period from January - June 2016.

The plaza, located in North Richmond, provided a small open space with seating, plants, colourful paint work and bicycle hoops.

During the six month trial period, Council sought feedback and ideas about the plaza from the local community and visitors to the area.

Council considered all feedback received, and at its meeting on 23 August 2016, decided to proceed with making a permanent plaza in Jonas Street.

Next steps

The community will be consulted on the design for the permanent Jonas Street Plaza. This is expected to take place in early 2017.

Funding for the construction of the plaza will be subject to a future Council budget.

Jonas Street to remain closed

Jonas Street will remain closed to vehicular traffic following the plaza trial.

Council is investigating further traffic treatments in the area to help improve the flow of traffic in surrounding streets.
